Kathleen Cook is a native Texan born in Amarillo and has been working in pastels for 35 years. After earning a BFA degree from Texas Tech University she continued her professional art career which includes 14 years as a fashion illustrator and advertising art director.
As an elected signature member of the Pastel Society of America in New York, NY. Her work has been featured in American Artist and Southwest Art magazines. She has won top awards in numerous national and international competitions and has been listed in Whos Who In American Art (Bowker Edition) since 1993.
A realness of the people and things Kathleen paints is evident in every work; yet, there is an overwhelming sense that there is much more going
on. A sense of storytelling, mystery and hidden surprises involve and delight the viewer with Kathleens unusual way of looking at the world.
Known for her beautiful effects of light and color and her sensitive, accurate portrayal of the human face and figure, Kathleen also paints still life, landscape and animal subjects with the same joy and originality.
Kathleens paintings explore a diverse array of emotions and mood, some darker and somber, others light and whimsical; but, in all we hear the artists voice, Come with me into this little world. Let me show you what delights, intrigues, mystifies and moves me. Perhaps we will be kindred spirits.
