Last year, the small city of Marble Falls felt the crushing impact and witnessed the domino effect that violence brings when it made national news on August 24th. A lone gunman murdered Mike Allred, four people in Jonestown and 1 in Pennsylvania. Not only do the immediate families and friends of these people suffer, but the cities, counties and states as well. Lives forever changed by a senseless act of violence.

This year on Sunday, August 24th, the Anniversary of Mike’s passing, friends and family of Mike Allred as well as families of victims who have passed before them, will gather together at the 2008 Candle Light Vigil. A time to come together and reflect on the fondest memories of their loved ones lost, in support of one another.

This special event honors all Texas victims and survivors of violent crime and their families. The ceremony itself is a reverent forum and uplifting celebration of life helping to give support and solace to help heal and comfort in time of loss. The citizens of 4 counties join together to remember, include and support victims of crime who are a part of our lives and communities. Above all, it is a celebration of life, an expression of the realization of love and a time set aside to reflect, honor and remember . . . a memorable tradition observed throughout Texas communities.

The Candle Light Vigil will be held at a serene location on the water of Lake LBJ. Entrance to the vigil is through Kingsland Community Park, formerly
